The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is the wider executive agency responsible for HM Coastguard, working to prevent the loss of life at sea. The MCA is responsible for a variety of services from legislation and ship registration, to surveys and inspection. Safer lives, safer ships, cleaner seas – that’s what the MCA is all about.
Our search and rescue helicopter services are provided by Bristow Group and we work closely with them to develop skilled individuals and highly talented crewmembers, from engineers to winch operators and pilots. If you’re looking to join HM Coastguard within the helicopter crew, you’ll need to apply via Bristow Group.
We work with partners such as the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and independent lifeboats to help save lives at sea. If you're passionate about supporting your community, getting involved with your local lifeboat station might be for you.
2Excel Aviation provides the fixed wing “search” element for our search and rescue, and the aircraft are packed with highly sophisticated mission equipment designed so that the skilled pilots and operators can locate those in distress. Each aircraft’s capabilities have been developed and built “end to end” by the company in-house.
